Current news....
We have received a grant from Awards for All to run our next project, with Wester Hailes Education Centre starting in September this year. We will also be able to further develop Youth Vision, providing counselling and emotional support for allocated students.
Extra Fundraising....
Thanks to Currie and Balerno News who donated £200 as well as a recent Donation of £500 we were able to successfully run a taster day followed by a 6 week programme between May and June. A group of 8 young people finished the course and as we seek new participants, we also need to look at different fund raising techniques. Already suggested by the youth is a sponsored walk across the Forth Road Bridge, we are also proposing a Band Night sometime before Christmas, so look out for it; come along, join in the fun and find out more.
The Way Forward....
We have now received Charitable Status and we are currently expanding the project. We have moved into a more substantial and permanent base; Threipmuir Cottage, at the foot of the Pentland hills, where the young people can learn from the old ways, learn to renovate the building and examine the old ruins and what used to happen on the land. Bringing in Scottish Folklore, history and archaeological work, alongside our therapeutic but fun outdoor exercises will encourage the youngsters to reflect, become stronger people, establish their own identity as individuals and become aware of the responsibilities that come with that.
